In a classic tiebreaker game, the Twins beat the Guardians 6-4 in 11 innings to finish an incredible
9-2 final period against the White Sox and Guardians to get the first-round bye and pit the Guardians
and White Sox against each other in the wild-card series.
The Guardians led 3-0 entering the eighth behind a dominant Justin Verlander, but after a double and
an out, the Guardians go to Aaron Loup with three straight lefties due up. Kyle Farmer hits for Michael
Harris and walks and then Matt Carpenter hits the dramatic game-tying three-run home run.
Andres Munoz and Edwin Diaz get through the 10th for Cleveland while Ryan Pressly tosses 2.2 innings for
the Twins. We go to the 11th. Jake McCarthy hits a leadoff triple off Bryan Baker, scores on a sac fly
and Luis Urias hits a two-run homer. The Guardians score once and get the tying run to the plate, but
Brooks Raley gets Steven Kwan to fly out.
