The two starters post zeroes for four innings, notable mostly for Paul Goldschmidt's
first-inning injury during a flyout, then the two former Indians farmhands, Sean
Murphy and Cristian Pache, open the inning with back-to-back doubles to make it 1-0
Detroit. In the bottom half Brian Anderson singled and Ronald Acuna Jr. homered to
make it 2-1, then the Indians added two runs by stringing together three singles, a
walk and a hit-by-pitch, most of that off reliever Emmanuel Clase as the Detroit
bullpen disappointed again. Dexter Fowler's solo homer got Detroit within 4-2 in the
sixth before the Indians put together a two-out rally in the seventh off Game 1
disappointment Jose Alvarado:
