Game 7 - Strasburg (LAD) vs Morton (STL)
Wendle opens the game with a lead off homerun to give the Cardinals the early lead 1-0.
Strasburg goes down with an injury in the middle of the fourth leaving the Dodgers pen
to try and salvage the game. He had been pitching well with 5 K’s over three and a third.
Zobrist and Machado drive in runs off of Harris in the bottom of the fifth to extend the
lead to 3-0. Morton is running hot, but the Dodgers are a resilient team and they manage
to tie the score in the bottom of the 8th with Turner driving in one and Eaton driving in
two. The Cardinals faithful are devastated, but the Cardinals aren’t fazed even though
Kenley Jansen takes the mound. Cervelli walks, Cruz pinch hits Cervelli to third on a ripped
single, Marte with a single driving in Cervelli. Cardinals lead 4-3. Kimbrel takes the mound
and quickly has runners on first and second (Freese and Shaw). He comes to his senses though
and strikes out Garver. Cabrera lines out and Kimbrel manages to induce a grounder from
Frazier to end the game. The Cardinals take the Series 4-3.
I must say one of the better series I have been a part of. The Dodgers outscored the
Cardinals and Kluber was unstoppable in his two games. It really was anyone’s series and
congrats to Bill on what seems like an annual post season berth for his Dodgers (always a
pleasure to get some netplay in with Bill). MVP goes to Craig Kimbrel with three saves, albeit
shaky at times. Cardinals await the winner of San Diego and Philadelphia.
