Game 6: Hammel vs. Collmenter
Montreal returns home and this time responds by trotting out a younger, hotter,
less-crazy girlfriend: Josh Collmenter. Hammel becomes insanely jealous, and loses the
ability to think straight. Or pitch. He totally embarrasses his date, allowing 8 runs
(6 earned) on 5 walks and 5 hits, in only 5.1 IP. Mission Accomplished.
Much like Theoden the Renowned, King of Rohan, the Montreal bats slowly started to awaken,
but in a big way. The 10 runs the Expos scored were certainly a lot, but might not have
been enough if Collmenter had not been lucky enough to only surrender 4 runs despite
allowing 10 hits (including two HRs!) and hitting a batter. Mariners 4, Expos 10. The
series is tied 3-3.
