Game 2 @MIL: The Phillies got on the board first again when Freese cashed Ellsbury with
a double, but Price stayed calm and got two big strikeouts with runners on 2nd and 3rd
to halt the Philly attack.
Things stayed quiet until the 5th, when Ellsbury smashed a 2 out home run to centre
after a Rollins triple. Price got things going himself in the bottom of the inning with a
leadoff single, moving to 3rd on a Mauer double to the opposite field gap and scoring on a
deep sac fly to centre field by Danny Santana. Cespedes followed up with an opposite field
double of his own but was stranded on 2nd as Stanton added to his rapidly growing series
LOB total.
The Brewers drove Phil Hughes from the game in the 6th after a couple of infield singles
and a couple of outs, and pinch hitter Gordon Beckham greeted Loup with a 2-0 smash off
the wall in left centre, giving the Brewers their first lead. Philly got the potential
tying run on base in the 7th and into scoring position in the 8th, but a pickoff of Rollins
by Wright and Chapman pretty much doing what he do when he do what he do kept the Phillies
at bay.
A solo HR by Ramirez in the bottom of the 8th made things a little more comfortable, which
turned out to be kind of nice when Yadier Molina hit a leadoff double and La Stella drew a
two out walk in the top of the 9th. But the big Cubano settled down and finished it off,
and the teams flew to Philadelphia for a day of rest tied at 1. Price picked up the win
while Hughes was tagged with the loss.
